"In Schenectady: Changing with the Times , author Larry Hart documents the rich and colorful heritage of Schenectady with the love of a native and the style of a professional. His efforts to 'show the passing scene' will be met with fond recollection by long-time residents and will be a revelation to newcomers. Fortunately for us, the camera was often in hand as Schenectady and the Mohawk Valley progressed from days of cobbled streets and trolley cars to broad highways and modern conveyance. Picnics, evenings in the theater, and boating on the lake are recalled as leisurely activities, while other photos show teachers, brewers, bankers, and Erie Canal lock attendants at the work-a-day effort they put forth to build an area of permanence and stability. All of this and more are juxtaposed against the modern image of Schenectady." (from the dust jacket flap) The book has a maroon hard cover binding with gilt lettering on the front cover and spine; illustrated endpapers; beautifully illustrations throughout. A fine addition for your bookshelf! Condition : The book is in like new condition with a firm binding and clean pages. The dust jacket is also like new. We have been sellers of antiquarian books for over 20 years, and our experience helps ensure quality descriptions of our rare and collectable books. Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free. We believe that it is a travesty to simply throw away a used book when there is little or nothing wrong with it - we believe in giving each book the chance of finding a new home. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do. Customer Service: Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help. Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us! Packaging: We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements. Delivery: We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you. PrettyBordersPlus free Template Maker by ISDN*tek
